A few days ago, langDev 2024 took place in the charming city of Seville, leaving behind a trail of inspiration, innovation and connection among participants. The conference, organized by the University of Seville & Metadev with the support of an impressive group of sponsors and collaborators, not only met our expectations, but far exceeded them, as well as those of the assistants.
Two days of high-level talks
The event brought together experts, developers and enthusiasts from the world of language development for two intense days of learning and discussion. The talks covered a wide variety of topics, from new tools and techniques, to success stories and discussions about the future of (software) language engineering. Speakers from around the world shared cutting-edge knowledge, enriching the experience for everyone involved.
One of the event's highlights was the keynote by Marcel Verhoef, from the European Space Agency (ESA), titled "Domain-specific languages: towards increased adoption of model-based system engineering". In his talk, Marcel addressed the main challenges of model-based systems engineering (MBSE), highlighting how domain-specific languages (DSLs) can overcome challenges such as creating appropriate levels of abstraction and specific notations for different stakeholders and domains, while maintaining consistency and traceability throughout the systems life cycle.
Other notable moments included the presentations by our main sponsors, such as Strumenta, F1re, & TypeFox, showcasing their innovations and contributions to the field.
Additionally, Proxyhands provided an accessible and comfortable solution to facilitate participation for all attendees.
Networking and personal connections
Beyond the talks, langdev2024 provided a unique space to connect with other professionals in the field. Moments like the gala dinner in an unforgettable venue in Triana close the river with a memorable view of the city and the guided tour of the city of Seville facilitated informal networking that, without a doubt, will lead to future collaborations and joint projects.
