This article is a summary of a session on LangDev'2024 held in Seville.
Concurrent collaboration is a feature that is gaining momentum in SaaS tools. Tools like Google Suite, Office 365, and Figma have popularized it in recent years. Remote work has been a key driver for the adoption of concurrent collaboration.
On the other hand, CRDTs (Conflict-Free Replicated Data Types) are a powerful abstraction that enables concurrent and offline editing, as well as simpler reconciliation (delayed merges at a later time).
In this session, we present how we improved Orca (a no-code tool for container orchestration) and Daga (a diagramming library for models) to support concurrent collaboration using CRDTs in the modeling tool.
We share the strategies we followed, usability considerations, pros and cons, and lessons learned throughout the process.
